Real
Stories From Real People:"I got pregnant when I was fifteen years
old. My dad left my mom when I was three and my mom
was never around because she was always working. So
I was left to fend for myself. I thought that if I
did what my boyfriend told me to do that he would
stay around. I had it all planned out, we could get
married and get an apartment together and raise our
child and finally I could be out of my momma’s
house. At least I would have someone to talk to. People
talked about me so bad, but I didn’t care, because
that is what I wanted. In my third month of being
pregnant, my boyfriend broke up with me. I was so
sad, I didn’t know what to do. My mother took
it hard too. I realized that the only reason why my
mother was working so much, was so that I could have
a better life. But because my mom was the kind of
mother that she was, she didn’t abandon me she
helped me get into the IBSG Parenting program and
attended the sessions with me. By the time I had my
daughter I knew what it was to be a good mother to
her. I use the many different methods I learned with
my daughter on almost a daily basis. I want her to
have a better life just like my mother wanted for
me.”
